Outer Banks Bicycling

The Outer Banks offers a variety of paths for bicyclist including wide paved shoulders, multi-use paths, side paths, bridge improvements, and 3 designated bicycle routes. Whether you are a leisure rider or a serious cyclist the Outer Banks has a biking experience for you and your entire family.

You can bike the entire length of the Outer Banks from Corolla to Ocracoke. The Outer Banks coastline offers an almost entirely flat landscape with the exception of a few bridges. In addition to the flat landscape there is typically a nice breeze anywhere from 5-15mph. Along your bike path you are also likely to encounter yellow “Bicycles- Share the Road“ signs, these signs are placed along US-158, US 64, NC-168, 264, NC-34, and NC 12. Please remember to use caution; especially during summer months when motor vehicle traffic and foot traffic is at its heaviest.
