The Outer Banks of North Carolina need your help! The list of needs continues to grow long and longer as residents and locals are able to finishing assessing the damage to their homes and begin the rebuilding process after Hurricane Irene devasted the area August 27th and 28th.  While Hatteras Island was deeply affected by Hurricane Irene, the central beaches of the Outer Banks experienced severe flooding and devastation as well. Residents along the Albermarle Sound in Kill Devil Hills, Kitty Hawk, Southern Shores and Nags Head experienced flooding of in some cases up to 7 feet.  Sun Realty has compiled a comprehensive list of donation drop off locations, needed supplies and ways you can help the locals here on the Outer Banks.

Supplies Needed:

  • Food
  • Shoes - Hatteras Island residents are in desperate need of shoes - all sizes including childrens
  • Baby Formula
  • Toilet Paper
  • Personal care products (soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant)
  • Cleaning products
  • Debri Removal Supplies (Gloves, tarps, trash bags, rakes, shovels, mops, fans)
  • Back to School products for children affected by the storm
  • Pet food and supplies

 

Drop Off Locations:

Nautica in the Tanger Outlet – MP 16 on the 158 Bypass in Nags Head
Food, personal care, and cleaning products are being collected to benefit the Life Boat Community Food Pantry on Hatteras Island and those affected by Hurricane Irene.

Food Lion – All locations on the Outer Banks
Food, personal care, and cleaning products may also be dropped off at the Food Lion stores in Corolla, Kill Devil Hills, Southern Shores, and Nags Head.

Back to School Relief Fund drive looking for donations to help the kids affected by the storm. They'll be collecting any type of donations from school supplies, lunch boxes, kids clothing, even pillows, sheets... anything you can think of that a family would need who has lost everything. You can drop off donations 24 hrs a day at the front desk.

The Outer Banks SPCA - Manteo is taking food and litter and any other supplies for the animals here and to take down to Hatteras.

Kaia’s Kitchen Market is delivering platters of food to those in need on Hatteras Island. They are working with local restaurants, making platters and delivering them to the Avon fire station where the Salvation Army is set up. Around 600 people need meals every day.
