Chances are if you’ve been to the Outer Banks more than once, you’ve had the chance to check out the Outer Banks Brewing Station in Kill Devil Hills. Combining delicious food and tasteful brews, the Outer Banks Brewing Station is a local’s favorite and is famous for being America’s first wind powered brewery and nightclub. Behind the scenes is where all the magic happens and the man behind those delightful dishes and innovative cuisine is Executive Chef Pok Choeichom.

A fixture on the Outer Banks restaurant scene since he began working at his uncle’s Kill Devil Hills restaurant The Thai Room, Pok is well-known on the OBX as one of the best chefs in coastal North Carolina.  Pok began his culinary career studying under world acclaimed Chef Daniel Boulud at the famous Le Cirque Restaurant. He returned to the Outer Banks and began his successful career working at well-known Outer Banks restaurants including Millies and Carolina Blue.

Pok describes his culinary style as “Asian with a European twist.” Claiming first prize at the Ocean Boulevard Shrimp Cook-off and taking home the 1st ever Chef’s Award at the 2010 Taste of the Beach are proof that Pok’s cooking is worth the trip to the OBX alone.

On your next visit to the Outer Banks, make sure and stop by and grab a bite to eat at the Outer Banks Brewing Station. If you’re looking for a reason to getaway this March, check out the 2011 Outer Banks Taste of the Beach food festival. With over 50 events from March 17-20, it was named one of the top ten seafood and wine festivals in the nation by Coastal Living magazine. Chef Pok will be featured in a variety of Taste of the Beach events. Sun Realty is offering partial week stays, free tickets to the OBX Grand Tasting finale and complimentary 10 Tastes of the Outer Banks gift bags for the Taste of the Beach weekend.
