Beach Nourishment Protects the OBX

This summer, the Outer Banks will be expanding many of its beaches with beach nourishment projects, pumping sand onto the eroding shoreline to widen the existing beach, and giving us more beach to love! Stretches of beach in the Towns of Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, and Buxton will be undergoing these projects.

These newly nourished, widened areas of beach are a defense against coastal storms and erosion and will provide a large, beautiful stretch of beach once they are completed. Many areas will not be affected; however, there will be limited areas of beach closures and construction activity associated with each section of the project, which may affect the beach in front of or closest to your vacation property. We ask for your patience, as beach nourishment is vital to the protection of our shoreline. Information on locations, estimated timing, progress updates and interactive maps for each town's project can be found on the project website: MoreBeachtoLove.com.
