Sun Realty is proud to collaborate with the Dare Literacy Council to serve the literacy needs of Dare County and the entire Outer Banks. All Sun Realty locations accept new or gently used books for Dare Literacy Council’s bi-annual fundraisers. Books must be in good condition and free of mold and mildew. Books in all categories are accepted. CD’s, DVD’s, LP’s and videos are also accepted. No magazines, please. All proceeds from the book sale fundraisers help the Dare Literacy Council buy workbooks for their students and help support literacy programs.

More about the Dare Literacy Council

The Dare Literacy Council (DLC) is an all-volunteer, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization located on North Carolina's Outer Banks. The mission of the Dare Literacy Council is to provide literacy resources and services for all people of Dare County enabling them to improve their lives and the lives of their families and function optimally in society.

The DLC trains tutors every year to help adults and preschoolers. Their tutors help with reading, writing and speaking skills, as well as teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) to those whose native language is not English. Many students have improved their math skills with the help of their tutors, and countless others have received their GED. All of the DLC’s services are free of charge to students in Dare County and the Poplar Branch Township of Currituck County.
