Charlotte NC's Fox News station recently ran a story titled NC Tourism May See a Boost Because of Crisis in the Gulf. No solid numbers are available at this time, but North Carolina tourism officials report that families who traditionally head to Gulf Coast destinations may decide to vacation in NC this year.

The Outer Banks Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the enhancement and protection of the world’s waves and beaches, and the Sierra Club are hosting an activism event on the Outer Banks, June 26.

2010 is the fifth year of the Town of Manteo's Farmer's Market and locals say it's better than ever. Every Saturday morning, vendors set up tables and tents on the waterfront for everyone to enjoy. The goods range from farm fresh produce to handmade crafts. Shoppers can grab a free cup of coffee and browse the huge array of plants, baked goods, jewelry, cut flowers, paintings, vegetables, pottery and so much more while listening to live music! There is truly no better way to enjoy a beautiful morning with family and friends!
